4.5.2 Test.
4.5.2.1 Hydrostatic test. Subject the complete coupling assembly to a hydrostatic pressure of
400 psig for not less than 30 seconds. Examine the coupling assembly for leakage, rupture, and
yielding. Leakage, rupture, or yielding shall constitute failure of this test.
4.5.2.2 Spectro-chemical analysis. Not less than a 2-ounce metal specimen shall be taken
from each lot of couplings for analysis in accordance with ASTM E 172. Failure to meet the
requirements of 3.3.4 shall constitute failure of this test.
4.6 Inspection of packaging. The preservation, packing and marking shall be examined and
tested in accordance with the quality assurance provisions of MIL-H-775.
5. PACKAGING
5.1 Preservation, packing and marking. The levels of preservation, packing and marking
shall be in accordance with MIL-H-775, or as specified by the contracting activity.
6. NOTES

6.1 Intended use. The couplings are intended for use in joining hose in steam systems, under
250 psig.
