COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
EXPANSION JOINT, SLEEVED, (NON-FLANGED), FIRE-RETARDANT, WITH RETAINING CLAMPS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for MIL- E-15330 which is cancelled in part.
1. Abstract. This description covers sleeved, fire resistant rubber expansion joints and retaining clamps identified as class B in MIL-E-15330. Each expansion joint shall be defined by size as indicated below.

2. Salient characteristics.
2.1 Configuration. The body of the expansion joint shall be convoluted and constructed with a minimum of 3 plies of reinforcing fabric. The fabric may be nylon, polyester, or aramid. An outer ply of aluminized glass cloth fabric shall be applied for fire resistance. The retaining clamps shall be fabricated of 316 corrosion resisting steel. The end to end dimension for all sizes shall be 7 inches. The general configuration of the expansion joints and retaining clamps shall be as specified on figure 1 (A) and (B).
